What the advert will entail?

Ok people! For my advert for the I.T. courses, I will need to include information on these key points:

  • First Diploma
  • National Diploma
  • HNC (Higher National Certicificate)
  • HND (Higher National Diploma)
  • Degree

The National Diploma specialises in two streams; Programming and networking. The HNC tends to be based around programming.

In the video, I will record people cleaning PCs, programming the PC and other such activities in the classroom. I will also be interviewing the teachers hopefulll as well as the students.xxx

Another change of plan:/

Unfortunetly, I couldnt get in touch with Patrick so I have had to make other arrangements with the I.T. course. So the story so far is that i was originally going to do hair and beauty, then i had to change to plumbing and now because of complications with the plumbing course i have had to the I.T. course. Hopefully though, this wont fall through.xx

New problems:(

I need to talk to patrick about these advert but i am not sure he be in so its touch and go today.xx

Change of plan:/

Well people, instead of doing advert based on hair and beauty, I will be doing a advert based on plumbing. The best thing about this change is that i have worked with the plumbing course before on the Bpec assignment so i basically know what they want.xxx

Five shot rule of Filming:)

This evening, we learned about the five shot rule of filming. The five shot rule for filming is:

  • Head shots
  • Hand shots
  • Over the shoulder shots
  • Wide angle shots
  • Creative shots

These will need to be applied to any video so the video is of good quality and not poorly done.xx

Advert research:)

To inspire my ideas for my advert, i researched old adverts from TVark. This first advert is from the animal food company Purina. The message it gives the viewer is that the product that they are selling is the only thing your cat wants. The target audience is for all ages but adults are gonna be more interested in this because they after all feed and look after the cat. The fact the cat looks like its singing is the main reason that it attracts attention to itself.

This advert uses advanced 3D software on the renault car to make it transform into this break dancing robot. An acutal person would of been used for the dancing and the robot frame added onto the movements digitally. I like the idea of using 3D software in my advert because it would make it more interesting. This type of advert would appeal to a younger generation because of the mixture of break dancing and mordern day 3D graphics.

This advert is from 1985 and is a well known because of the dramatic effect that it had on Levi 501 jeans sells. Also the song used in it "heard it on the grapevine" reached the top of the charts that year because of this advert. The advert its self looks like it set in the 1950s and got alot of attention because the model Nick Kamen stripping to his boxers just to wash his jeans. I feel because of this that it would appeal to a female audience then a male audience because of the "male" influence.

This advert is for weetabix and they have based it on the legend of Robin Hood. It shows Robin Hood and his band of merry men going to the rescue of maid Marrien whose being held captive by the evil sheriff of Nottingham; However , theres a catch! The sheriff is has weetabix! This makes Robin Hood run away with his tail between his legs! The advert itself is basically saying that if you have your weetabix, you can take ANYONE on! This is a very good sales technique to use because it gives the impression that the cereal itself is an essential part of the day. This would be probably be aimed at family people.

This advert for Walkers crisps is advertising the limited edition Salt and "Lineker" crisps packet. It stars Gary Lineker and fellow footballer, Paul Gascoin and it just shows paul trying to get some crisps from Gary's packet. When he finally does get some, Gary notices and crushes hand. The funny part is after this when paul starts crying streams of tears from his eyes all over gary and anybody near him. The age range for this advert can be from the the very young to the elderly.

This advert is a Tango ad from 1992. It originally had a bright orange man slapping the guy drinking the Tango but this had to be changed because of complaints from people. Its funny to watch and is suitable for all ages. Its more like wind-up tv where people have pranks played on them hence the popular tang phrase "you know when you been tango'd".

This advert is about Cream cakes. It uses a religous style to make out that their cream cakes are hard to resist (even for monks!). This matches phrase right at the end "naughty but nice". The advert itself is funny and should be suitable for all ages. The famous comedian Frankie Howard used in this advert would boost its impact on the viewer.

This advert uses a interesting mixture of video production and stop animation to change the make-up on the woman. This advert would be aimed at mainly women because of the female perspective its coming from. This advert is closely related to what I am planning to do with my advert because its about cosmetics.

This advert the 1980s and is about fashion accessorie known as a Pop swatch. It is quite a surreal video because of what happens and this might confuse the viewr. This maybe aimed at 20 to 30 year olds but the contain itself is suitable for teenagers and older.

This advert is about womens perfume and is obvisously going to be aimed at women. The advert may also though be aimed at men who are buying for their wifes or girlfriends and loved ones. Its mainly aimed at middle aged women because of the age of the actresses in the advert and the type of activities that they are doing.

This advert of moisturising cream and is obvious straight away that this advert is aimed for women. This could be aimed at men as well if they are buying gifts for their wifes or girlfriends. The frilly look of set make it very stereotypical of a woman and makes out that all women are like that which isnt exactly true. Its aimed at female teenagers and above and is suitable for all ages.xxx

Advert research:-)

For my research, i downloaded adverts from the past 30 years from a site called http://tv-ark.org.uk/ . This site is useful because it shows alot of adverts and also shows from all the channels in the past 30 or 40 years.xxx

My TV Proposal:-)

The object my TV programme is to advertise a course for Stephenson College. In this case, it will be Hair and Beauty and the target audience will be mainly people interested in the beauty industry. Also it would appeal to younger students who are interested in the subject. What I plan to do is basically is to give a brief description of what the courses are about and explain how people can get involved in this subject.
I plan to use background music, Adobe pro and adobe fireworks.x

Computer lesson

In colin's lesson today, we learned about upgrading the drivers of a PC. We also learned that you can have an X amount of drivers installed, depending on the memory and speed and size of the motherboard.x

Deaf signers

Bloggies and blogmen, lend me your blogs! This basically the same video i posted before with one exception, which is the role of the deaf signer (played by wild west doctor). The signer usually watches the tv programme before, signing to the viewer about whats going off. Editing the background was very easy to do and the scale of the sign language videos was also easier to do.

I could improve this video by taking the lines that are part of the deaf signer video out and make sure the sound for the deaf signer is muted and the sound for the interview not muted.xxxx

Creating a virtual enviroment in carrara

Today , we learned how to create a virtual 3D studio using Cararra 4.

This task was slightly harder then using fireworks but the overall result i thought was impressive. I started the 3D studio by setting the shape infinite plane down and then a cylinder and sphere down. I edited the cylinder by making it more elongated and really short while i made the sphere flat to use as a background. I felt this wasnt enough so i made another background using a cube which i felt made the studio have more depth. For the colours of the shapes were done by using images which i have done in my spare time. The texture map tool was used to place the images on them.

I liked how the images intergrated with the 3D shapes and also how realistic it made them look. I think i could of improved it by twinking it with the garbage points and chroma keys tool.

Virtual studio- Stephenson music

Today, we learned how to create a visual studio for the blue screen using Adobe fireworks. I had a better angle on the person today then i did yesterday and this helped editing the background easier.

I based it on music so i wanted the background to be abit jazzy and show bizzy. The background was very simple to do and the logo with stands out well against the background because of the contrasts in colours. I exported this out of fireworks by selecting "image preview" and exporting it as a JPEG.

The desk was was done in a similar way accept i had to make the canvas transparent and make the shape of my desk. I used the tool style for the colour and the star shapes to give it that show biz feel. I exported it the same way i did the background accept i exported it as PNG instead of a JPEG.

The main problems i had with this video is trying to get rid of the video which kept showing up. I compensated for this by covering it with the desk but this also created a problem.

The character's hands couldnt rest properly on the virtual desk however, this problem was easily rectified by placing the desk just above the hands so it hides them abit.

I found today alot easier then yesterday when we first started editing videos via the blue screen. I enjoyed today too because it gave me a chance to get creative with the background and foreground.xxxx

Video production practise

This evening, we learned how to edit videos using Adobe Premiere pro and the blue screen. The blue screen is used because of the tone of the blue makes it easier to cut out the characters and edit the background easier.

When i recorded this video, i had a problem with where the camera was recording which meant it didnt get all of the blue screen. This caused problems when editing the video because the character kept merging with the background and made it look scruffy.

Apart from this minor setback, i had no trouble with editing the video and adding a picture to the background of the video. I feel though that through this mistake, its made it look original.xxxx

Today at college...

we learned about planning documentation in video production.
For a start i found these type of planning difficult to understand but i soon learned it was pretty simple to do if i put my mind to it.
I first thought that doing this type of planning first and then actually doing a video would be harder because i was uncertain of what would happen at the video shoot. I feel now though that this process makes the planning more easier.
